Do you work to your strengths or weaknesses?

In your life (upto now) have you worked with your strengths and used them, or have you used you weaknesses hoping to make them better?

For instance, I like geology and I did well in geography, but I'm horrible at math. Would you choose to major in math or geography?

What do you believe? Should you try and make your weaknesses stronger, or just play to the strengths you have?

I find myself using my strengths in the best way I can and using the weaknesses I have to a lesser degree. However, I am trying very hard to learn about my weanesses and make them stronger too.

Good or bad aside, the question is would you ENJOY it. If no then walk the other way unless you like to cause yourself misery.

My strength is being weak, it makes those around me look better.

I chose electrical engineering because I want to learn how to build computers. When I graduated I realized I'd rather work on them than build them. Every personality test tells me I should not have done engineering. I think they are right...

I'd go with geology, then - go for what you enjoy doing..

To get better at it?

why get better at it? focus on your strengths and "delegate" your weaknesses to unsuspecting interns.

srsly, you need to develop your strengths while working on making your weaknesses stronger. from your example, major in geology and get tutors to up your math skillz, or minor in it and take some extra classes that will help you hone that math skill.

nah. if youre not good at something and still want to try to succeed there is not harm in trying, as long as you arent putting all your eggs in that basket (like majoring in it). bettering yourself in something youre not good at is a good thing in any context (aside from mass murder or other illegal/ immoral acts)

That said, I love "specialists", they ensure that I will always have a job. "Specialist" programmers who never bother to understand how business works and "specialist" managers who can't understand programming logic or configuration mean that I will always have a great-paying job as an intermediary.
