Do You Work Next To Noisy People?

I sit next to the following people:
- an older gentleman, who is always breathing heavily (he is obese) and it sounds like his wind pipes are caked with,... cake. Lots of sloshing / smacking noises when he talks too. It's like he has folds of fat, within the folds of fat, inside his mouth. And, he produces the occasional popping cough. Oh, and the man makes all sorts of awful struggling noises when in the bathroom. Chomps and smacks his lips while he eats as well.

- an older woman, who's voice can shatter diamonds. She has a squeak voice to begin with, so when she gets into heated arguments over the phone, my ears bleed.

There are quite a few folks that get a little loud from time to time (as do I), but these people are ALWAYS producing these irritating sounds and noises.

There is also one woman, who is all the way across the office from me and people can NOT stand sitting next to her. They have closed her off and there are about 2 to 3 empty cubes between her and anyone else.

Offices are totally political at my job,... so, the noisy people will never get them (they have been in the same position for 10 years or something).

2 weeks ago the 2 loud people that on the other side of my area moved and i couldn't have been happier. they were the loudest most obnoxious people i've ever worked near. all they did was laugh and bs all day. the one chick couldn't say a sentence without laughing. it was so stupid and annoying.

literaly a conversation between the 2 girls would be...

"how was your weekend?"

"it was good LOLOL HAHAHAHAHAH HEEEE HEEEE HOOO HOOO!!"

and then the OTHER girl had the most obnoxious, loud, fake laugh that screeched. i'm super happy they left the area. thankfully they weren't always there together which helped keep quiet sometimes, but when they were there wow it was hard to concentrate.

i would rage quit and walk outside just to get out of there sometimes. it was the ongoing talk of our work area because EVERYONE was annoyed by them. thing is, i work in an area with a lot of contractors on different contracts, so no one is really anyone's boss so no one could tell them to STFU and have them actually have to do it.

I enjoy talking, but the guy I work with in the field doesn't. Hard to get two or more words in one sentence out of him

Two of my office mates like to play their music out loud, no headphones. One of which has okay taste in music so it doesn't bother me, the other one seems to have a very strong attachment to one-hit wonders from the 80s and 90s.

I pound away on an IBM Model M13 at work. Since middle-management has its head up its collective ***, when I'm working, I want to make sure EVERYONE knows it!

Our office is silent most of the time as everyone uses Lync instant message to talk to one another.

Yes, three teenagers and my wife, or at least when the latter is not at the hospital working. When she is it's just three teenagers.

Thankfully, no. purbeast0, I can just picture you rage quitting (I'd do the same in that position) sometimes and taking a break, lol. That definitely sounds like it would be hell.

I am in a room with six other guys and while there is off and on conversation, no one is loud or obnoxious about it. Outside of our, the dev, room there are cubicles but people are more or less quiet here. I can hear one dude's laugh from his position in a cubicle by our room's door but it's not frequent and he's funny anyway.

About the only thing that annoys me with noise is sometimes one of my dev co-worker's chair squeaks when he shifts his weight. It doesn't happen all the time either which is weird, and sometimes I can tune it out, but other times it just fucking grates on me and I want to kick babies and burn this fucker down.

I am the noisy person. I play music all day, have a loud keyboard and constantly drum my fingers when I am bored. Additionally, I take every call on speaker phone.

I have 2 offices.

at the corporate office, we work in cubicles and it's nice and quiet. people rarely venture over to someone else's cube just for idle chit-chat.

at the satellite office, it's an open floor plan and I'm surrounded by guys who won't shut the fuck up. there's really only so much interest I can pretend to show in their weekend strip club adventures or how baby Johnny is sleeping now.

I have some bad news for you, are you sitting down?

Good.

He does like talking he just doesn't like you.

Sorry about that.

I have one coworker with chronic verbal diarrhea. When there is nothing to talk about he sings improvised spanglish/gibberish operatic spoofs. He is always yelling, and is socially needy and histrionic and rude.

There's a black couple in the apartment above. For some reason at least one of them feels the need to drop the toilet seat instead of setting it down. Also their dog is an ankle-biter that suffers separation anxiety, lets out the most pathetic bark I've ever heard.

At work there are one or two guys who feel the need to randomly rap in Spanish. It's not really loud but monotone to a disgustingly boring degree.

Any particular reason we had to know they were black?

I just like being detailed. The complex is filled with all matter of assholes, I'll be happier when I move.

But in the interest of being equal, one of the white tenants failed the douchebag test. In the passage of ten seconds he locked his doors, used the remote start, opened his door and rolled down his windows. It could be argued for testing function, but not three times in the past month.

Not anyone particularly loud near me, which is great because I just moved seats. It wasn't bad where I previously sat, except one time the lady who sat next to me asked one of her lackeys about some kind of Harry Potter crap and I had to listen to him go on for about an hour on the geography of the surrounding area of Hogwartz. I was just thinking "man, you're like 35... you have got to be a virgin."

We should trade offices... I love places where people play music out loud, even if it causes a mish-mash of sounds.

Mines is mostly dead quiet. Engineering = lots of not so social people. I hate it.

I have two offices. One is quite metaphorically...a morgue. It's like 60 degrees because the AC is cranked so high. It's a sea of cubicles with lifeless bodies slumped in front of a computer. Nearly every day I'm working there an email comes out about "Please don't congregate near cubicles, it's disturbing to your coworkers". It's dead. A tomb. Sterile. Lifeless.

Bleh.

Then my other place...it's at the hospital. There's patients and clinicans and residents wondering all over the place. There's a coffee shop around the corner from me with music playing. We can talk and bullshit all we want and bother no one.

That's where I work from most of the time. It's not hostile, I can actually sit down and talk through strategy with my teamates without getting hatemail in my inbox. It's just a much more energized environment.

Got an old guy in the office that should have been fired long ago, he is like the guy from Office Space with the stapler, just a warm body. Noises he makes are, tapping his feet, snoring, eating that sounds like a zombie eating, drinking water like a cartoon character sound, and blasting movies on his laptop. He also has a lot of smells going on booze, cologne, onions, but this is supposed to be about sounds. Luckily this week he isn’t coming in because he fell and smashed his face so bad over the weekend.
