do you "winterize" your car?

Lighter oil, carefully adjust the gavity of your anti-freeze to accomodate very cold temperatures, winter or all-season tires, de-icer in the wiper fluid, emergency equipment suitable for cold-weather incidents.

make sure my battery is in good working order, make sure I have decent tires, and that all my lights and stuff are working.

My Outback pwns the snow.

Well for some of you remeber do not use 100% antifreeze in your car. 100% is flamable and if you spring a leak you will have a road side BBQ going. Always mix during the winter 60/40 with 60 being the antifreeze.

Along with that if your battery is older then say 4 years pitch it and get a new one. And if your running 20w50 weight oil change it acording to your manufacture specs. Alot of times the weight of the oil you should be using is printed on the OEM oil cap.

A tune up wouldnt hurt. And changing the fuel filter(s) as well wouldnt be a bad idea. If you live in really cold parts remember to also cary some candles, tin can (coffee can to melt snow to drink), sasuage log and some cheese (like the gift pack so you have something to eat), knife, blankets, portable 2 way radio, shovel, and a bag of sand with you at all times during the winter season.

If your car will run and your not covered in snow or sitting in a ditch then run the car every now and then to keep the engine warm and you. If the car is covered in snow or in a ditch do not run the car. The chances are very high that the exhaust will come back into the car and you will die from co2 poisoning.

Summer if your car breaks down in the middle of know where it isnt that big a deal. But winter you can freeze to death so your car needs to be running in its best condition and having the added supplies with you to keep you warm till help arives.

Are you one of those people that get on the evening news and tell us this every time there's a snow flurry?
