When you reply to a thread, are you careful to click Reply on the particular post you are replying to?

I either hit "quote" on the post I want to respond to, or I use the docked quick reply at the bottom of the page.

no, ONLY when i want to quote someone, then obviously you would have to be careful otherwise it wouldn't make a lot of sense.

I got a PM from someone who pointed out that I'm not clicking Reply on the post that I am actually replying to. In Threaded View, my reply ends up being linked to an unrelated comment. I always use Linear View so I see them in one long list.

Generally when I reply to a thread, I click Reply wherever I happen to be at the time in the thread. I'm not making a point to click Reply on the post I'm actually replying to.

I use the linear view as well. It's the default and it works for me. :) I tried the other views and they drove me crazy. I like a chronological view of the posts in a thread.

It's the one that works best for me.

Funny, I'm always careful to quote properly, but never ever thought about people who use Threaded View. Wonder how many times those people wondered what the heck I was talking about because I clicked Reply on an unrelated comment.

Are Linear View users in the minority?

I'm Linear View too. Most threads are funnier if viewed read as written, rather than in some "organized" fashion.

I was VERY careful and deliberate about what "reply" box I was clicking to respond to this thread.

Occasionally I will reply to one thread while observing another. I know which thread I am replying to though.

I use linear, works just fine.

Unless I am quoting someone, it doesn't matter where I click reply.

When I'm not quoting, it is more likely I'm clicking on the last post in the thread than actually "REPLY"ing to the proper one. Guess that'll change now :)

Doh, I didnt even know there were different views.. I've always used linear. I guess I'll be more careful where I reply now. Normally I just click on any old response half way down the thread.
