A quick check on google shows they do as the other person talked about.

I'm assuming your Google link is not somebody repeating what somebody was told by somebodies mate down the pub who read about it after a Google search?

The Mail has a hard on for bashing the BBC, they own part of ITV.

Plus the harassment there seems to be in the form of lots of letters.

Thats what happens if you ignore a letter. People write you another one. Trick is to reply to the first one if you dont want any more.

It's a lot more then just some letters and even replying to them saying you have no tv is not enough to stop them or have people come knocking on your door and asking your neighbors if you have a tv and assaulting you over it.

Thats a bloke from a private company (not the BBC) whos acting way outside what hes been told to do, and could very well get done for assault if the other guy took him to court.

My whole problem with the TV license is that you have to pay it, even if you only want to access to channels that don't receive any support from the license.

Well that would surprise me, but in any event it benefits everyone, so it's worth it.

Yet it was the bbc who hired said company so it's still their fault and they encourage it.

No never. only idiots watch live TV. At minimum I watch stuff at least a half hour old, most of the time closer to a week. The main reason is to time shift, but I'd be a liar if I said I never skip commercials.
