I thought I would start a Poll to get an idea of what support there is for Ms Palin to run for POTUS in 2012.

Would like to see Ms Palin run for POTUS in 2012?

Also please post your answers to the poll questions to give an idea of who supports a Palin for POTUS in 2012.

no / republindependent.

if she does decide to, I can't see her lasting past NH as anything other than a Huckabee-style candidate. really depends on who else is running, but lately I've been leaning towards Pawlenty.

I'm scared of her because she's totally unqualified and unsuited for the position. She's really just the 'screw you' voice of a certain segment of the religious right motivated by resentment, like Marion Barry keeps winning elections playing off the resentment of the poor in DC, despite being an absolute buffoon.

"Don't know yet", independent...

It depends on who the Democratic candidate is, and whether I want the Democrats to have such a huge advantage in the general election.

Unless you associate the Yes/No vote with a particular political lean, the poll won't really give you much to point to. After all, there are plenty of frothing D's around here who are likely to vote "yes" just to see a very weak GOP candidate. How will these polls reflect that fact?

Suggestion to fix poll:

Q: Do you want to see Ms Palin run for POTUS in 2012?

A's:
1. I tend to vote Republican and would vote YES for Palin
2. I tend to vote Republican and would vote NO for Palin
3. I tend to vote Democrat and would vote YES for Palin
4. I tend to vote Democrat and would vote NO for Palin
5. I'm an Independent and would vote YES for Palin.
6. I'm an Independent and would vote NO for Palin

This.

I'm a Democrat and I would like to see her run because she's be virtually guaranteed to lose. I'm guessing a lot of the Democrats here think the same.

If Palin runs and wins it will be the democrats mistake that caused it (kind of like 00 and 04). So I want her to run.

Better yet would be for her to run as an Independent.

Yes/Republican

Though I'd rather see Gingrich/Palin in 2012. Really, any combination of Gingrich, Palin, Huckabee and Romney would be good for me. Maybe even Giuliani.

What other explanation can there be for the left's fascination with her?

What grabbed my attention is:

1. That a majority of Republicans would likely vote for her in 2012.
2. She is often described as being a victim of the media and liberals.
3. The number of Democrats I know who have said they want her to run in 2012.

Generally, I support as many people running as want to; makes for a better debate (like Kucinich, he's never gonna get the Dem nomination but I like to hear his POV in debates).

Otherwise, I don't really care. I don't understand the left's (or those few on the right) facination with her. I suppose it's media-driven., I just don't get it and feel she's more a local-level politician than a national-level type.

The majority of Republicans polled in a recent USA Today\Gallup poll said that they would likely vote for her if she ran for POTUS in 2012. That does not sound like just a "few on the right" being fascinated with Ms Palin or that the media is pushing her.

Like it or not she is a power in the Republican party.
