Do you usually bid on ebay if the person who is selling the item has 0 feedback?

im bidding on an vestax mixer that retails for roughly $250.00 shipped, and im winning it now at about $180.00 + shipping ($20.00) so $200.00 altogether, and the mixer is pretty new, only 5-10 hours of usage or so he claims. he has zero feedback, and im just wondering if he is reliable. do you usually trust people with zero feedback? let me know thanks.

Good traders gotta start somewhere. I would be leery, but I have bid on items put up by peeps with 0 feedback.

sucks for ebay n00bs like me. I've never been big on auctions, but I needed to sell something this past week. I'm sure my lack of a history killed my chances of selling (especially since it was for $3k).

Yeah your chances were blown, baby! I've never used EBay, but I'd imagine you have to start with baby steps.

i think you should trust your instinct. personally i would not, but then perhaps there is always more to the story. maybe i'd risk it on 20 bux or so, but not 200. good luck with the bid!

Dedpuhl's Rules of Bidding on eBay:

1. Feedback rule

Generally, I only bid on items if the bidder has more than 200 positives. If there is an item I must have, I will break my feedback rule IF the person has zero negatives.

2. Amount of item rule

If the item is less than $40, then I generally take a chance. If the item is more than $40, then I revert to my feedback rule.

3. Quality of the post rule

I will not bid on an item if the post is short and missing details about the transaction. I also watch out for people with low feedback using those automatic auction page generators.

I have yet to get burned when following my rules of eBay, and I've been a member since '97...

I'd watch and make sure he didn't blast 100 auctions up suddenly. If it's only a few items it probably is someone truly just starting out.

I did to get my Radeon 9700 Pro. Got a sweet deal on it for $280. The guy was local to me so I just had him drop it off at my work and I paid him in cash. I would not have bid on it if I had to send him the money and have him ship it. This way I got to see the card before I forked over the dough.

Well i have 9 postives and 1 negitave (the negitave is because i gave them one because i won the auction paid but never got the item) but i sale and buy with people who have low amount of postives

granted if the guy has very few postives i look at the frequancy of the post. if he has a bunch in a short time (50+ in a week) then i stay away. but if they have one every few months then it is ok.

i've browsed e-bay for a long time but only recently registered. my personal rules are:

1. i'll only bid on an item if it's located in canada. this way i don't have to pay for duties or deal with packages being held by customs. being that i work for customs, i know my stuff.

2. there must be pics!

3. description must be detailed.

4. no negative feedback.

5. if i see something i think i'm going to bid on, i place it on my watch list then return a few days later.

Sold my PS2 and games for $280 a while back. Had 0 feedback. I think the key was the fact that I had pictures that I had taken in the auction. Not some easy to find pic on the net. I'd look for that as the start of hte test.

Send them a message and ask them if they accept COD and you're worried about the 0 feedback.
