Do you use your scroll wheel in FPS's?

Do you guys use your scroll wheel or keys to change weapons with shooters? I always used scroll wheel, but I just got a mouse today that has a "smooth scroll wheel" so you can't feel the wheel click. It really doesn't work to well.

Depends how many weapons I can hold, if I need to jump to a weapon many slots away, I usually just hit the button, to go from SMG to Pistol though, I use the wheel.

yeah.
that's also why i didn't buy one of the newer microsoft mice, they've all gone smooth-wheel with no feedback

Mine works fine in CS:S... Newer games can handle the smooth wheel.

You bet. I don't think I could go back to a mouse with no scroll wheel.

In CS I used it to buy primary and secondary bullets. It works well when you are in a rush to get out of spawn point.

it does. but, for me, i like to feel the "clicks." with the smooth wheels i tend to over rotate whereas with the "click" feedback, i can for example scroll exactly 3 clicks and land on that weapon.

I use it but am trying to convert to the numbers. It just sometimes kills me trying to switch weapons in a battle

Kind of. Logitech mx510 has the little buttons on either side of the wheel, I use those so I don't overscroll and pick the wrong thing.

Exactly what I think.

Anyone else think the MS 4.0 scroll wheel feels great when it's been broken in over a few months and spins freely?
