  • Yes.

  • No.

  • I use them for salads or to serve stuff that is not hot.

Well, do ya?

And do you use them at 4 am on a crusty old cast iron grill over a wood fire in a rusty steel toxic waste drum?

Yes and No denotes multiple choice...

Well, technically I guess you are right, but I thought multiple meant 3 or more. Otherwise, stupid multiple choice poll added. Just don't freak out on me and select contradicting choices, like yes and no on cooking and we can all get along.

My mother has this wooden cooking spoon that her grandfather whittled about 60 years ago. I dont know what kind of wood it is but it has proven to be extremely durable and resilient. It is not burned but it has turned very dark from being immersed in so many different sauces/foods etc... A quick wash in the sink and oil it every month or so and that's probably how it has lasted so long. I may even inherit the thing one day...

there's nothing wrong with stained or charred. I would never intentionally use a splintered one.

stained, yes... charred and I'd probably replace it.

wooden cookware is my utensil of choice for cast iron or stainless steel cookware... when I'm using my nonstick pans, I'll usually go with a silicone utensils.

Of course I use wooden utensils. They may be older fashioned, but they're still superior to plastic and steel utensils in many ways.

Actually, that's pretty cool. And even if I used wood, I wouldn't use that one, it belongs on a wall in a nice frame with a gold plaque on it with his name on it.

Wooden spatulas are extremely versatile and sturdy. They are perfect for use on non-stick cookware. Expect most of them to get burnt and dirty when you use them often.

We use olive wood spoons and cooking utensils. They're awesome. That's pretty much all we use.

Yes, I have a home made wooden spoon/scraper that I've been using for about 15 years.

I call her "Old Scrapey"

I have a bunch of bamboo spoons. They are great. I like them more than metal or plastic. I especially like my oak sauce pan. You have to wet it before cooking to prevent burning, but it has a wonderful even heat, and even some steaming action from the water vapor.
