Just noticed this recently in my Messages where I have an option to record voice clips to send as a text message and I think my wife alluded that it also exists in facebook (but I don't use it).

Do you catch yourself using it or you still text with the keyboard like me most of the time?

I use transcription:

1. Hey Siri, send a message to John
2. Can you pick up milk today?
3. Send? Yes

I keep my phone in my shirt pocket or on an angled Qi charger next to my bed, couch, desk, and kitchen.

I have some friends that do this and it's incredibly irritating!
It has the disadvantages of a phone call in that you can't just take the message anywhere plus it has the disadvantages of texting in that it's not a real time communication.
It's also why I hate video tutorials. You can't easily review the single word or sentence you want. You have to watch/listen to the whole damned thing, and be ready on the pause button. Texts /tend/ to be short, but I recieve/send plenty of longer ones, and I'd be pissed if I got a vocal reply.

Reducing the playback speed can be helpful for some of these instances in video tutorials (and if on YouTube, automatic transcriptions can also be helpful if not perfect)

It's weird. My 2024 Odyssey reads me the text, but dumbasses at Honda decided I need to hear the whole header as well.

And I don't see a dicta text, instead it shows me a keyboard. Dude, I am driving...

The 2012 Odyssey I had came with voice to text for crying out loud, but oddly it only worked with my Windows Phone.

This one of those many annoyances that I'm having none of .

If you can't touch type, then that's your problem. Definitely not a me problem or an us problem

I guess I see the point when on a mobile, but unless lives are the balance, make yourself a reminder recording instead.
