I would try to argue with some of the ignorant things said in this thread, but there are simply too many...

I code valid XHTML/CSS2, although I don't revalidate after every change, so a mistake may slip in here or there. I code for the W3C and Gecko, and honestly I don't care how IE interprets it, as long as the text is readable.

Netscape 4 is FIVE YEARS OLD. STOP CODING FOR IT!!!! This only makes the web a worse place. The more reasons we give people to upgrade, the more likely they will. Mozilla based Netscape releases have always been far ahead of their IE equivelants. Why doesn't IE support the :first-child selector in CSS? Looks like it's in the specs to me. Why doesn't it support :before and :after? IE is BY FAR less standards-compliant than Gecko. Any IE fanboy who disagrees has his head in the sand.

Y'all need to create pages in Flash/actionscript. With 97% market saturation (that's the internet market - and it's rising), there's more standard in that than any browser/code war that's been going on for the last 9 years. ;)

A lot of people think Flash = animation... but it's much more powerful (and thought-provoking) than that. There's a lot of free-thinking people on these boards... why don't more of you guys give Flash/AS a try ?

It's too closed, there is only one player, and it's a strange binary format. I don't even think there is a non-mac/windows flash editor. Browser plugins are also a PITA. Flash is for just that - flashy stuff. Games, multimedia, etc. For web content, it is a horrible idea.

This is the point of opening more of your eyes.
One-screen is a great example of how it's not a "horrible idea". It's not necessarily just for flashy stuff. It's practical, interactive, and best of all, responsive (read: dynamically helpful). BTW, their older demo was even better than this.

Browser plugins... hmm... 97% and closing... not much you have to do except update the player once in a blue moon (like you don't do service packs or security updates to your OS?). EDIT>> Fixed link.

It took too long, I killed it.

My brother-in-law still uses Netscape. He has used it since the mid 90's and cant get away from it, and he is computer savvy. Strange, but true.

EDIT: And it is Netscape that refuses to conform to the standards...

I always heard it was IE that was not following the standards.
There are standards put out and netscape does not follow them. <blink> WTF is that all about?? http://www.w3w.org should explain everything for you.

As far as IE, that is the standard and it does comply with the w3w standards. Netscape does not comply, and it is to their own detriment.

That link should read http://www.w3.org/, for the World Wide Web Consortium. All that link leads to is a placeholder page for an unrelated site :)
