Do you use UV or clear filters on you lenses?

Was going to pick a few up for my lenses for protection and such.

i have UV filters on all of mine except one, which reminds me that i should get one for it.

But to answer your question: depends.

I do have UV filters from B+W and Hoya and use them to protect the front lens element. But in situations when I might encounter lots of flare, I take them off and use a hood instead.

The problem for me is that most of the time when I want lens protection (like at the beach), then those tend to be situations which can also produce flare. So no I do not use them at this time.
