Do you use technology when you get home from work?

I spend all day at work in front of 3 monitors doing statistical programming, drafting documents, etc. When I get home I have no desire any more to go on a computer.

Instead, all I do involving electronics is watch TV on Hulu/Netflix. I used to play a lot of video games but I just have no desire to do this anymore when I get home from work (except maybe for a few hours on weekends).

Have you lost your enthusiasm for tech/gaming/computer stuff as time has gone on? Is it related to work at all or are computers just less interesting than they were 10 years ago?

I only play video games once or twice a week now but that's because I'm just burnt out from work everyday.

Yes.

I am on a computer all day doing work (and neffing here, of course).

Once the kids are asleep, I usually retreat to my cave and watch TV while working, neffing, FB-ing and doing other crap online. On the nights I don't, I am usually either watching a movie with the wife in the family room, playing basketball or out with the guys.

Sad but true.

Depends. I go through moods where I tend to be addicted to one activity. For the past few months it was Skyrim, but that died down a bit a couple weeks ago. Before that, I was playing pool every day after work, and as much as I admire the research and development that went into low-deflection shafts, it's hard to think of billiards equipment as "technology."

at work, I'm using a crappy laptop with a 1366x768 resolution screen and a crappy 17 inch CRT that runs 1280x1024.

At home I've got an eyefinity setup with three 1080p monitors in my home office, and I have a 106 inch 1080P projector hooked up to a PC as well as my bluray player in the Home theater....

I tend to play a bit of games at home, and watch a bit of movies ...

That said, I don't really go to any tech forums or do any emaling or anything like that from home ...

yeah. but I don't treat it as "technology", just tools for doing things or entertainment.

I only use "tech" if it helps in accomplishing the task at hand. No way around it. Stop and think about it, if the "internet" crashes what do we end up using to communicate, etc. I try to make do without tech if possible. :(

im less into learning about tech but not because i dont want to...im still in school, which requires time learning shit that i really wont make use of (stats, industrial psych) while i work full time (over 40 a week by the time i figure in what i bother with even at home) and i have 2 kids

once i get done with school i want to work elsewhere, because where i am now is extremely hectic. if i didnt have homework id want to get back into studying networking and other stuff that im interested in

Sometimes.

Sometimes I stay at work to do my YT stuff, just because I can't have my gaming computer at my grandma's.

Only reason I don't do more after work is because it gets exhausting to constantly pull out/put away netbook every time before/after work.
Meh...

Some days I just go to sleep, or stare at the wall while half asleep.

I spend all day on the PC at work & one of the first things I do when I get home is turn on the PC. I'll usually play BF3 for an hour, then take care of chores & dinner.

Define "technology."

Just about everything in a home is engineered in some fashion and hence, could be considered "technology."

Yes, I'm mostly always on the computer, if not, maybe watching TV or making something to eat. Either way it involves technology.

I've been kinda brainstorming projects I want to start on though. My game server is dying off, I might shut it down and move on to something else. Maybe web hosting or something.

Work: sitting there surfing the web and waiting for shit to break. Boring and stressful.

Home: sitting there surfing the web and playing games and watching TV and knowing darn well that nothing is going to break. (Or it'll answer to me!)

Pretty much everything in the house is internet-enabled now. Except when I'm cooking or eating. I watch TV on the computer, do internet on the TV, read books on a Kindle, do email on my phone, and play iPad games on the shitter. Pretty much all my non-video-game forms of entertainment (books, music, etc.) are also digital and computer-driven. (I still buy printed books, but I buy them on Amazon, so blah.)

If you're taking a broader definition of technology, well, hell, playing with the cats involves motherfucking lasers.

About the only thing I do that doesn't require electricity is play cribbage.
