So the combination is one, two, three, four, five? That's the stupidest combination I've ever heard in my life! The kind of thing an idiot would have on his luggage!

4-8 letters, a weird character (like an asterisk), and 2-4 numbers. Not necessarily in that order. Works for me.

Heh, I have several randomly generated passwords I still use. One is the random password my first ISP sent me in 1996, and another is the random one either geocities or tripod gave me.

I've also taken to using a 20 digit serial number for a certain piece of software for my more important accounts.

All of these things, I memorized unintentionally. They are not written down anywhere.

Does anyone actually use those stupid password reminder things? They seem so insecure...and you can usually just get them to email the password anyway so they are pointless IMO.

I had to get a password my predecessor at this job had setup so it asked my his secret question. The question was 'woof' I guess 'dog' and of course that was it. They tell you to use a complex password...then leave the retard backdoor open.

Only when the system I'm talking to allows me to. Has anyone else noticed lately that a lot of online systems aren't allowing "special" characters in passwords such as "#$%^&*", etc?

I have the usual bunch of half-a-dozen passwords that I use for most things. One of them was my favorite author, with a slight twist, h3inl3in. Then that one got password-hacked on AOL, so I don't use it any more.

Back when I was still working in network security, I knew all my clients' and their employees' passwords. What a lame bunch. Lots of them used password. A surprisingly large number used s*ckmyc*ck or something similar. Lots of birth dates and SS#'s. And a lot of pet's names - especially when they had a picture of the pet on their desk.

Mine are pretty simple, yet weird enough that no one i know would likely guess 'em.
Most of my various email ones are the same, my messageboards ones another, etc.
