My hands get really dry in the winter and I have to put lotion on them or they crack and start bleeding.

Please, manly men of ATOT, reassure me that using lotion to moisturize my hands doesn't make me less of a man :|

The fact that you call it "winter" in that part of California is enough to call you less of a man.

Just as advice, anything with fragrance will likely make your dry skin worse. Moisturizer with fragrance usually has an agent that helps spread the smell by accelerating evaporation, which draws moisture back out of the skin.

Yes, I use lotion on my hands all the time during winter, otherwise they get really dry. I can't remember the brand since the wife got it for me.

My hands get red and cracked on the back (non-fapping side). Lotion doesn't seem to do anything except make them greasy.

My solution is to where gloves (as in latex mechanics') when doing any kind of work outside (...usually on cars). This keeps me from washing my hands too much, and also protects them from the cold dry air.

Also, washing with warm water makes it worse, if anyone didn't know.

I do. I also use lotion on my face in the morning, otherwise my face gets dry and flaky. My wife said it also fends off smile lines too, but I think that is a myth.

Your SO deserves better than to be manhandled (pun intended) by dry, rough, cracked hands. Especially twixt their nethers.

Hang around any building/construction forum and you will find LOTS of men use all kinds of moisturizers on their hands during the winter. Particularly if your livelihood depends on it. Hard to do finish work if your hands are split open in 20 places.

Quite a few guys put Vaseline on their hands and wear gloves at night, although I have never had to do this.

Of course - if you're a desk jockey, having to use lotion means you're a chick.

My Dad is a mason by trade. His hands are so cracked sometimes he actually uses super glue to seal them up

He swears by Bag Balm.

Wear gloves whenever you go out. Protecting your hands from the elements helps quite a bit more than moisturising after you've exposed them to colder temps.

Moisturising once in a while is good as well, though I've avoided cracked skin on my hands for years since I started wearing gloves in winter (and we've had a few harder winters than I'm normally used to since I've started wearing gloves).

Otherwise I use E45. I'm not sure if it's available internationally.

Prevention is better than a cure, but try to avoid over-moisturising as well, as that can lead to other problems.

I just have a bottle of St Ive's lotion I've had for a few years now. I don't use it often, but when my hands are dry enough to need it then I'm thankful it's there.

schneiderguy puts the lotion on the skin or it gets the hose again.

schneiderguy does this whenever it is told.

schneiderguy puts the lotion in the basket.

PUT THE FUCKING LOTION IN THE BASKET!
