Do you use "like" a lot?

I've been trying to phase it out of my vocab slowly..but it's tough because speaking is such a subconcious thing that you have to concentrate on these things to not do it.

What makes it even tougher is that everyone and their mothers, even some of the most eloquent of speakers, uses the word "like" in every other sentence when it just is completely unnecessary and would be better left unused..

Well if one is like a native southern california resident, one can't, like, avoid exposure to all this valley girl talk. Like you can't even leave the house without, like, hearing some spoiled valley girl spout her utter nonsense. LIke whatevar.

I don't like you. I don't, like you. I don't like like you. Like, I don't like you. Like, I don't like, like you. Like, I don't, like you.

No, and I can't stand people that use it excessively. I have walked out of classes and meetings because of it, and confront people all the time that really annoy me.

I believe it used to be considered such a horrible aspect of x-generation...::shrug::

It's unavoidable and just a part of our venacular.

I use it way too often even though I too have tried to phase it out.

No I use love in places where I used to use like.

No he means like as a means of comparison not as a means of determining preference.

Example:

It's like, so totally awesome, oh wow!

OR

Like, get a life weirdo!

OR

You are so like freaking me out dude.

OR the new and trendy ghetto version:

Gurl, I took that bi@t$h down like thuh muth-F--kin ho' shez is.

Yeah like that.

my wife uses it it every sentence when she's nervous or is talking on the phone with phone company or insurance company, or just anybody from a company

I've habitually avoided it in most situations since about 5th grade (now a high school freshman), though I sometimes still use it for a few comparisons.

i barely every use it for anything other than comparing two or more things (i.e. the girl downstairs looked too much like a spider, so i screwed the spider like i would have screwed the girl.)

but i'm "like" always making fun of my friends for using it in "like" all their sentences because it's "like" so freaking annoying. I "like" can't stand when they "like" do that *sigh*

its freaking annoying like people that like to use "you know" and "like" a lot in their speech. like it's annoying, you know?
