Do you use hand sanitizer?

by hand sanitizer, do you mean a commercial product that comes in a container of some sort? or do you mean something "natural"?

commercial product, ie. Purell. I work in an office and I use it a few times daily. Believe it or not, some people here don't wash their hands after doing their business. Others are just plain germy.

Yes. I have a big bottle of it on my desk with a spray bottle of lysol in my desk as well...
i like to spray things down each night. I see a lot of people, and i like to keep things clean.

They have it in the meat section at the grocery store, and I use it there. I'd probably use it if I had it at home.

I prefer soap and water... I would seek it out before using hand sanitizer.....I need the rinse cycle to really feel clean.

Is it true that once you use the same one for a period of time it is no longer effective for you?

i don't think any of them have more than a placebo effect

I haven't heard that and I'd be very interested in finding out if there was any truth to it.

its quite possible that the bacteria on your hands could build up a resistance to the sanitizer, and then those reproduce and the end result is bacteria on your hands that are resistant to the hand sanitizer.

The OP is talking about the clear stuff you rub on your hands. I used to use it when doing desktop support. You have no idea what people leave one their mice/keyboards.

One of these days, one bacterium isn't going to be sanitized by that stuff. And that is one tough bacterium. And he is going to be pissed off.

So I rarely use it.

Yep, I prefer soap. A little bit of germs never hurt anybody 🙂

Wow, I didn't have the Purell but every Monday morning I cleaned off my desk and sprayed it down with a nice, thick layer of Lysol. My co-workers used to get annoyed because it smelled so strong but now that I have been gone for about a year, one lady told me that they were all getting sick this last winter and they decided it was because they didn't have me spraying that stuff anymore. It was kind of entertaining for me. 🙂
