Do you use cruise control on your vehicle?

I'm in the "never tried it" category.

Been driving for over 3 years. I don't think I've ever seen any of my family members use it either.

WTF is up with your poll? No option for those of us who use it on occasion? We have to either hate it or use it whenever we can?

I use it sometimes when traffic is light enough that I can leave it on for 10 minutes at a time or more.

"Yes...I use it often whenever I can."
There is nothing wrong with the poll.

"Whenever I can" is up to interpretation (meaning it can be from always to only on the autobahn).
What matters here is that you use it.

EDIT:
If you still need help deciding what to pick, that's the option you should pick.

I used it when I made the trip from Chicago to Columbus and it made the trip quite a bit easier.

I use it whenever I remember I have it, and when the highway is empty. I don't like taking my foot off of the pedals.

In the old car, yes, plenty of times. In the new one, no, I'm scared I'll hit a nuke button or something.

I use it if there is a long stretch of empty road ahead. Since I live Idaho, I use cruise control a lot.

CC doesn't save gas per se (in fact, depending on the logic it may even use more gas than a driver who knows what he's doing), but it does keep the driver from having to pay very close attention to keep their speed from drifting, and THAT can save gas.

I use it on cars that have it when driving long-distance. However, some of them have much better logic than others. I hate CCs that drift more than a couple MPH...I can do better than THAT myself, thank you very much.

Only in very light traffic. Too many people like to use there brakes when driving on the freeways around here.

i have a cruise control that automatically adjusts to traffic speed... it's called my right foot :p

i get better mpg driving by my foot than using cruise control :)

I use it as much as I can. I use it a lot to stay with the speed limit in the city without heavy traffic, and always on the freeway. It wasn't available on my current vehicle so I added it myself using aftermarket.

They have adaptive cruise control as an [expensive] option in some cars. Best for stop-and-go traffic of course.

I use it all the time.

A good CC system should easily defeat your right foot for gas mileage on a long trip.

I have driven cars where the CC system was not very good, though.

I use it pretty much daily. And I hate other drivers that don't use it cause they mess me up. Why they hell do you need to slow down and speed up so damn much?!? Bugs the hell out of me when someone shoots past me down a hill and then slows down in front of me on flat ground. If everyone used CC traffic would be less congested I think. I don't slow down for slight curves or slight hills, I stay at a constant speed while everyone else subconsciously changes there speed and makes me have to slow down. /rant

"often whenever I can" seems to imply that you have an intent to use it. which in my mind would lead me to believe an option of "maybe, if the need arises." Which is where I land.

I disagree. Where you waste a lot of gas is the constant acceleration of stop and go traffic. If you can maintain a constant speed your engine will use less gas.

On my dodge neon, I tried forever to figure out the sequence that was required to engage cruise control...I never did figure it out, although I would often get it to turn on after mashing the buttons for awhile. Aside from the fact that it was stick which I think diminishes CC usefulness, there are to many tards jumping out in front of me while I drive for me to have it turned on any longer then 12 seconds anyway. Plus, there didn't seem to be anywhere comfortable to place my gas foot...it was either hovering around the gas pedal, getting tired or it was curled up under the seat...a dangerous distance and position for what is also my brake foot.

On my hyundai, I think it has it but I've even bothered to turn it on or look for the control based on my tests with the other car.

I don't understand the purpose of cruise control.

And maintaining a semi-constant speed would maybe even be possible if all other humans were extinct and had been kind of enough to ditch their cars before they died!

I think this would apply to me as well. I think CC is more of a comfort option and I can't really get myself into a comfortable position with CC on (unless I get too comfortable) so I only use it once in a while.

Riverhound777, maybe the guys shooting past you on the downhill (who are saving more gas than you :p) are in neutral and they're not braking on the downhill so they speed up. With regards to that "keep your car in D and the tires will spin the engine" crap, I don't drive any cars new enough to have that technology nor have I heard people say they do it in their MT cars so AFAIK, it's for AT only and our only AT vehicle is a van.
