Doh, I knew there was something I was forgetting to enable.

It's up and running now, and it looks great :D

I have an 1800FP, and cleartype looks GREAT. And of the hundreds, or even thousands of posts on the 1800FP that i've read, this is the first time i've heard of this problem.

Never met an LCD which didn't look better with ClearType.

I even knew a guy who had an LG CRT, and he ran ClearType too... he showed me the difference. WOW! (But I realize that not all CRTs respond so well to ClearType.)

I second that.

cleartype is basically a technique pionnered at MSR to anti alias text on a computer screen (specifically LCD displays) they are trying to make text on a computer screen as easy to read as text in a book. its a surprisingly difficult problem to solve but cleartyp was a good first step.

I definitely prefer reading books on my Ipaq 1910 than reading a book. With a book, my eyes normally tire after a few hours... but i can read all day on my Ipaq just fine with cleartype on.

ClearType is a font-smoothing system used to make the text on LCDs look better. You can enable it in "Display Properties" -> "Appearance" tab -> "Effects..." button -> "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:". Select ClearType from the dropdown.

[EDIT: Damn you guys! I thought I might be beaten by one person, but two!!! Oh well, I have step-by-step instructions! So there! :p]

I cant stand it on a CRT atleast.. I dont have access to an LCD to use it, but the ones that I have seen it on, seems to help..

But it really annoys me when people take screenshots of text while using cleartype and post them on the net.. it messes with my eyes.. I see all this SHARP and CLEAR text, then kabloom.. a bunch of blurry text... most often in benchmarks or reviews..
