Do you use CCs for small purchases?

Let's assume small purchases are about $5, though you can use your own definition if you wish.

I go to a place called taste of mexico, get a burrito to go. Don't have cash, so I try to pay by creditcard. The manager goes into a big stink, tells me to go to an ATM, I tell him there is no Wachovia nearby and I don't want $3 of withdrawl fees, he eventually relents and takes the card.

Stores/Restaurants need to POST thier CC minimums if they have them.

Except having a CC minimum violates the terms of most cards, so posting such minimums exposes them to being dropped for such a violation. So instead of posting a minimum he'll just try to guilt trip you into paying cash.

I use CC almost everywhere.

pretty much any contract between a merchant and the CC company requires that the merchant have no minimum.

use CC every time it's possible, not only does it save me the hassles of counting bills and change (I hate change in my pockets) but you can get points/miles/cashback for every CC charge. Yes, they may be small charges, but they add up 🙂

QFT, same goes with Interac payments as well, I've seen several smaller convenience stores say there's $5 minimum, but that technically goes against the TOS.

It's a shame cause almost every indian store up here has a $10 minimum.

There is no advantage to using cash for anything. CC gives me a measure of protection against theft and being ripped off, an easy record of my purchases, takes less space and gives me rewards in addition to building credit when used. I don't even carry cash anymore...if they don't accept CCs then we aren't doing business.

Even fvcking McDonalds is accepting CCs around here now.

i use CC for small puchases all the time
i never have cash on me
bought a slurpee at 7-11 once for about $1.50
no complaints hehe

Yup, just threaten them with reporting them to the CC company. Unless you are somewhere where they can retaliate, such as a food establishment.

I've paid $0.65 for paper at Office Max with CC. I use CC for everything and never carry any cash unless it's absolutely needed.

used to all the time when I worked at Target - had a store card that wouldn't work anywhere else, and I wanted to start building a little credit history. Now I don't very often, except when I'm out of cash 😱

Of course, reporting them is self-defeating because they'll be dropped and then they won't take CC for ANY purchases.

The 7-11 around here has a 10 dollar minimum 🙁

and in debit mode, they won't let you get cash back on a slurpee!

I've had a bill before for 18.70, person told me there is a 20$ minimum. I told her I had no cash on me and she rolled her eyes.

fast food / take-out food is the only thing I pay for in cash. Everything else including supermarket stuff I use the credit card unless it's a few dollars total. Restaurants are always CC.
