I cannot sleep past about 6am without dense blinds. I just bought some quality blackout curtains today. Does anyone else use them? What style do you like most? The ones I just got are twin panels of dense cotton.

Yup. Pull-down vinyl type thing...I use it in my living room because I use a projector for a TV

i use towel over curtain rail. i is ghetto.

I put up trashbags over most of my windows. Dual layered. I am also ghetto.

But it's still dark as night in the bedroom in the middle of the day and it just cost me a few bucks for cheap store brand trash bags and some masking tape.

We have some room darkening curtains for the HT room.

You can make your own with blackout cloth if you like projects.

EDIT: You can see the bottom of them here (green)

It would appear that our resident Soundman has quite a speaker setup.

LOL, I would have hoped so! That is one DAMN FINE wood finish on those things...

Anyway back on topic... I use honeycomb shades... kinda like accordion-style venetian blinds. Mine have foil lined on the inside of the cavities so that when I drop the blinds, 100% of light is blocked. They work very well and are an excellent option for those who don't like curtains (or have cats who DO like curtains).

If you want something really hot, check out the piano rosewood finish

I have some of these blinds in our bedroom. They definitely don't let any light thru them as inside each cell its constructed of foil. The only problem I have is that beside the blind you have like space that all the light comes thru. Need to get some curtains to block that.

Yeah! That's what I have but had difficulty describing above. In my case, the windows are recessed and so the blinds sit inside the window case. I've cut them to a 1/16" margin on each side and it works great. I can get my HT room near pitch black with them!

Woot

I got something better and it is practically free. It's called living in a basement apartment.
