I have no AV software installed. Norton won't do Live update so I figure there's no point of having it, oh well.

Do you have any AV?

I always use my common sense with e-mail, etc. But its always nice to have somthing there as a safety net. I rely on norton to grab virus before they even get into my inbox (and it does that very well)

How do you know if you have gotten a virus if you don't use anti-virus software? Maybe you have one :p

I'm still using Inoculate IT. The updates are still working and until they quit I have no reason to change.

If you use any file sharing program and dont run some sort of virus scan i'd be willing to bet you have a virus.... Norton has caught 10 or so files that had viruses in KaZaA.

System Works 2K2 on the winders side.
It's irresponsible not to run some kind of A/V software. You could be infected and not know it.
Spewing that crap all over the net, or at least to everybody on your address book.

Absolutely...contrary to some beliefs in this thread, common sense is to run a virus scanner. Why wouldnt you? Its not like its going to wreak havok with your machine

The ISP I work at just installed Norton AntiVirus and a spam blocker on all of our mail servers.... I just realized that having Norton running all of the time now is pointless - I just gotta be careful with what I find of Direct Connect and I'll be in business.

BTW, Norton seems to slow the system down a bit with the constant scanning of every file you open, etc.

not to bash/flame ya, but obviously (sp?) you're not using common sense. It's like saying i use common sense when i drive so i don't where a seatbelt. I thought I used common sense and never used an AV prog. One day hell broke loose. I learned my lesson, Good luck ! ;)

Not using one at this time but believe you should. Its somewhat like a condom, it feels better without it but it only takes one time for disaster.

Those of you not running antivirus software may not be experiencing the effects of a virus at this time, but your system may be propogating viruses to countless others without your knowledge. I want to thank you in advance for the viruses you send my way, but I use a constantly updated antivirus program to stop the crap being spewed from your unprotected machines.

It is your ignorance that helps to spread many of the viruses that costs untold millions of dollars of damage. The cost of that damage is nor borne by mega-corporations, the cost is borne by us, the consumers.

can you download updates for the latest version of Norton AV directly from the website or do you have to use their damned online-update utility? I dont like programs connecting to update servers, who knows what kind of info that have about u after running live update.. i hate that crap.

And thinking that your updates catch every virus, then that too is ignorant. AV is good to have but doesn't mean you can't catch a virus(mainly at the beginning of the life of the virus).

Btw most kazaa problems are .vbs or .exe, and if you don't run them then you should be fine.
