which is better, electric or the old fashion manual shaver... and if you do use an electric shaver, which one do you have and how do you like it?

electric shaver is faster, but definitely not as close of a shave. Get ready for everyone to rave about their Mach 3 razors and how close they shave.

Edit: I personally use an electric.

I use a norelco spectra and love it. I have had 4 different mach 3 razors in the past, and the norelco shaves closer i swear (unless i go against the grain, that's bad :p)

The mach3 vibrating one doesn't count as a true electric. Unless you use it without water or shaving cream. And if you do that, then you're just too manly for ATOT.

I started using single blade razors, dirt cheap, MUCH closer shave, and I don't have to shave as often.

Yes,

A cheap one when I am in a hurry or trimming and a braun one that cleans itself when I really shave.

I have both.
I never use the electric.
I get a closer shave with a traditional razor, plus the electric eats my skin leaving razor-burn. (yeh I tried pre-electric lotions)

Electric is much more convenient, blade is closer. I used an electric up until it died (it was a hand me down from my dad, like an $80 Braun or something) and then switched to blade because I was too cheap to buy a decent electric.

Electrics will suck your cheeks into their gears and spit out bloody zini-like strips of flesh*. Razors are the only safe way to shave.

* This is why I've never used an electric, they scare the crap out of me.

Yes. I actually like the shave better with my electric. It's quick, it's pretty dang close (close enough for me), and I don't have to worry about being half asleep and slicing my face off!

I've tried both the Mach3 and Quattro. Quattro is teh SUCK! I like Mach3, but just too cheap to go buy refill cartridges.

I have both. I use a Panasonic ES8003 for the electric shaver and while it does a good job, its not as close as a Mach3. But its great when you don't have much time and need to get out quick.

M3power because i work for Gillette :D

electric shavers, for some reason, irritate my skin. the only alternative is the manual, or manual hybrids. I've only tried the Braun Activator series tho.
