NAT IS NOT SECURITY!

I don't use one and I make my own patch cables. I AM DOOMED!!!!1111!!!!!

Bad, very bad mojo.

I have the router's firewall + the free ZoneAlarm on all my PC's at home.

Seems to work.

Now if I could just my wife to stop installing toolbars we'd be all set. :)

I used to be hardware only, but since the McAfee package is free with Comcast I use that too.

ZoneAlarm for the software firewall. At home, I have a router too. At school, it is just a direct hookup to the ethernet.

I haven't used a firewall, spyware utility, antivirus (especially) or any stupid scanning proggie, and my computer has been dmz'ed forever, and yet, I never caught a virus, spyware or any other crap like that.

I would probably just use the XP firewall if I ever had to connect directly to the net w/o a router.

I like to believe that using common sense on the web is the best firewall there is.

Even then a good A/V can save your ass from exploits everyone once in a while. Things beyond control of a mouse cursor..

router + zonealarm

i only use zonealarm so i can control outbound connections. I've been meaning to find a better firewall as it's starting to get bloated, but I'm lazy.

Router + software firewall. Comodo is my new favorite.

I used Sygate for a while until norton bought them and phased out the sygate brand and free firewall

No point if you don't have any programs that have listening ports or trojans....

No Anti-virus software though.

AVG and Comodo antivirus are both free and pretty good
