Only for certain types of games. 3rd person action-adventure and racing games play better with a controller; FPS, RPG and strategy play better with a mouse/keyboard. I use the XBox 360 controller and it's great (works well with Steam's Big Picture mode as well).

If you decide to go with a wireless 360 controller, keep in mind the play and charge kit will not allow you to plug it in and use the controller on the PC. You'll have to get the wireless receiver or get a wired 360 controller.

I've used a wireless 360 controller on my PC for a few years now and I love it.

I've only used it more and more as time has gone by.

I've had to replace the wireless receiver a few times unfortunately but the one I'm using now seems reliable, it's been going strong for a good while.

Over time I've been using the controller for more and more games. Even first person shooters which I would have once seen as blasphemy. I just finished up Thief 4 using it, and before that I used it for Metro Last Light, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3... Tomb Raider...

Honestly I use it for pretty much everything except stuff where a mouse is obviously necessary or superior like Counter-Strike, StarCraft, Diablo 3 - I'll keep using mouse for any sort of clicky fine precision game. Or competitive multiplayer FPS.

I use them but only for racing games and *some* adventure games.

Most 3rd person games I still prefer to use a mouse, because I just find it easier to quickly get the camera where I want it.

Catlevania: Lords of Shadow was a big exception, because it made you do funky things with the analog sticks that you just couldn't do easily with keys.

I use a 360 controller when I feel like the game will play better.

The PC "master race" trolls forget that controllers have a long history with PC gaming.

Any of you guys use them on BF4 or COD Ghost?

Any feedback on those games!

Thanks.

The D-pad on it is awful and 50% of the games I use it for are old console games.
Try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBZVN9t9ztE&feature=related
I find it helps quite a bit. However the 360 dpad is a flawed design that is never going to match those of Sony or Nintendo design.

Back on topic I switch between my KB+M and 360 pad as needed. Such as using my KB+M on foot while using my 360 pad for vehicles in things like GTA and Saint's row.

Yeah I only use my xbox 360 controller for first person shooters. It works pretty well, but both of those games are FULL of cheaters. Like literally everyone is cheating. I can't win a gunfight with anyone, even if I catch them from behind. Their aimbot spins them around and shoots me before I can even adjust my aim onto them.

I use my controller in BF4 but only to fly the jets and choppers. Also, I have no issues with using the mouse+keyboard while the controller is plugged in, they do not interfere with each other.

Sometimes.

Notable games I have pulled out my Xbox 360 controller would be Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV:ARR. Another, would be Super Meat Boy.

Otherwise, I prefer my wireless keyboard and M570 trackball.

Pretty much this. I remember using the Gravis Gamepad a long time ago. It is something younger PC gamers tend to forget.

360 for certain games--basically action games that require various button combo-based moves. Think, Assassin's Creed or Batman games.

FWIW, I played Batman AA just fine with keyboard and mouse, though I ignored some 30% of the special combat tricks.

For some, I have no issues using controllers for games that play better with them - even if it requires an external program.

I still only use a PS2 controller though so it takes some set up (not too difficult). I might try a PS3 controller now that I have one, but not too worried about it.

how many peple would you say cheat in planetside 2? i know that at least some people cheat but sony also has a banhammer. the reason i ask because sometimes it is like when i get in a close combat situation i die so fast. are some of the weapons for this that you have to buy just that much better for close combat fighting? also i am vanu so maybe the other teams are much better in this area?

Platformers.
And racers (I still dont own a good wheel). And flight games that are more arcade than sim.
I do have a yoke for those.

Tried using a pad for kerbals, but it dont work so great. And I dont own a stick.

Dark Souls is controller only from what everyone says, not literally but it's the smart move
