Do you travel a lot for work?

I travel a lot for work.

I have about 150,000 miles on American Airlines that I've earned in 1 year. That's just on AA...I fly all the other major airlines too!

I used to... then it became "cheaper" to hire local contractors to do our work... then I got laid-off.

I was never able to rack up too many airline miles due to corporate policy making it almost impossible to use the same airline repeatedly.

Most my miles are in Star Alliance or Continental, if I can't use one, I use the other.

Edit: To clarify, I don't really travel for work, they just send me on these mini vacations.

i am forced to fly SWA from norcal to socal, since its cheap and flexable. I think for work I've only gotten about 60K on star alliance in 2 yrs.

BUT i have been able to rack up ~350,000 SPG points and a fair amount at Hyatt and Hilton too over 2 years.

Mon - Thu, usually. But we had another baby recently and I opted to work on an internal assignment from home for a few months. I'll probably have to start travelling again in Oct. I collected 55k points on Delta in 6 months last year travelling alternate weeks but then moved to a different client and had to fly USeless Airways most of this year. I think I have another 6-7k points there I think. I did get 35k points for my Hilton stays, but I'd much rather stay some place with a microwave and fridge. Working from home beats all, though 🙂

I think I am a faux road warrior 😱

I've only been home on weekends since March of this year. Last year I didn't have to travel at all, the year before I was gone 6 months straight. It comes and goes.

Nopt anymore. (thankfully) For years, I never knew from one week to the next where I'd be going.

I might be taking a crane somewhere "locally", (within driving distance...up to 200-300 miles one way) or I might be getting in an airplane and flying somewhere for a couple of weeks/months to do a job.

Fortunately, it paid VERY well, and anytime I was away from home, they paid all my expenses.

I rarely flew often enough to rack up enough FF miles to actually do anything before they expired though.

Just got back from a two day stay about 120 miles from home. Thankfully that is rare indeed.

:music:I miss the earth so much, I miss my wife....
It's lonely out in space :music:

Luckily for me, I've been flying out of a heliport for work that is 150 or so miles from where I live. Beats the 200 mile trip that some of the guys take to the heliport... and that doesn't include additional miles if they live in a differnt town/state/country that the office is in.

Like I picked up a guy from the airport and drove him to the company office so he could pick up a company car so he couold drive 3 hours to new orleans to work. He just flew in from new founland, figure that one out for me, eh?

I have to renew my passport in less than two years due to international business travel.

It used to be 'cool' in the beginning but now the entire jetsetting lifestyle is getting really old (after a couple of years doing it).

I've maintained Star Alliance 'gold' status on a yearly basis ever since I started traveling for work.

My alternative is with SkyMiles. I believe Continental and Delta are allied/partners on this.

i agree w/you guys...it's cool at first...but now it's getting old.

i don't think i could do this when i have kids...it would be way too crazy.

nope, i used to do that
back in 1997 i was a Delta SkyMiles Gold level, 52 segments that year, i think you had to have 50 to reach Gold level

I've only spent 4 weeks since Jan. 1 at my office. I travel a lot for work. So far this year I've been in Lansing MI, Kansas City MO, Delaware City DE, and after next week, I'll be adding Spring Hill TN. Extended Stay Hotels FTW!!

i travel about 80 miles a day , 40 one way to commute to work, and pay like $6 in tolls each day. stupid pa turnpike nj turnpike and toll bridge

Yep...I'm young (relatively) and work as a narrator at auto shows, so starting in November, I'll be in another city about half of every month. It still hasn't worn thin...yet 😛
