Do you tip when you order take out.

But many people I talk to say they never tip for take out. Must be cheapskates.

I am not talking about fastfood, but a resturant that someone normally brings you your food, but you order takeout instead.

Tipping is for service recieved, and to me I didn't receive any service from a waiter/waitress when I get takeout from a resturant. Tips are given to the wait staff, with some going to bus boys and such. The majority is for how good of a job your waiter/waitress did. So there is no reason to tip on takeout.

Can you give me a good reason why I should tip with takeout?

No I tip with the hope it goes to the chef, the bus boy, and the waitress. They all worked for the meal so they all deserved a tip. Which is why I still tip for takeout since people are still making a meal for me.

Yes, because I am generous and I have come to learn that if you lead a life where you do favors regularly for people (including strangers) then more favors will be done for you whether they seem deserved or not. I don't know why life works this way but that's just the way it is. Perhaps it has to do with the age old saying, "Birds of a feather flock together" and generous people happen to be attracted to each other in that sense.

chefs and cooks don't make tips. waitstaff and busboys do; neither of which do anything for takeout orders.

if you thinkt he cook is getting ANY of well any tip you are sadly mistaken. also the waitress and bus boy didnt do shit in a take out order. some cashier bagged it and thats it. who won't get the damn tip either.
