Do you tip when ordering take-out?

Looking to hear from people that do or don't tip when buying takeout at a regular restaurant?

Do you tip? If so, what percentage?

No...there's no service involved. No delivery, and no one is waiting on you, so there's no reason to tip.

I do actually. But it's a special case I guess as the place I go to people know me pretty well and service me well when I do sit down. These days I mostly order take out from them, even then they'd offer me to sit down, relax, and bring me tea while I wait. Just a nominal $2-3 on top of the bill, nothing much really.

Does that make it different?

Knowing a few people who have worked as take-out employees for restaurants such as Chili's and Red Lobster, I know that they do a lot more work to get it ready than McDonalds employees. I usually tip a buck or two.

The only restaurant I order take out at is Chevys which is basically a mexican applebees and I tip a dollar or two to the person that brings me the food from the back.

If your talkin mcdonalds or subway or something then I never tip of course.
