Do you think you'll go see the new Star Wars movie?

Wasn't a fan of the newest episodes, and with Lucas not involved with episode 7 I am skeptical that I will be excited to see this one. But let's see what the reviews when this thing gets released.

The fact that Lucas is not involved is one of the main reasons why I'm interested in seeing it.

Nope. I'll forget about it for a while, then a few weeks or months later I'll remember to look up the general consensus. If it only sucks as much as, say, Transformers 3, I'll see eventually, maybe on Netflix. If it's just brainless pew pew and lens flare, I won't bother at all. If it lands anywhere in the wide gulf between Transformers 3 and a movie that's actually good, I'll go to a theater if it's still showing.

I probably won't see it in the theater. The only movies I go to the theater for are kids movies, and I am pretty sure this one won't be on my kids' list.

It depends entirely on the reviews. If it gets bad review then there is no way I'll go see it.

Keep an open mind, you have no idea what the next Star War movies will be like. Like you, I liked the first 3 movies and was disappointed with the more recent ones but I am hopeful.

I agree... however the current animated series is painful! Star Wars Rebels... pick just about any 3 minute segment from it and you'll question watching anything "Star Wars" again.

If it looks like it might be decent, I'll see it at the midnight showing on the opening night. It's usually a lot more enjoyable when you're watching it with a large audience of diehard fan types. E.g., Yoda's light saber battle in 1, the theater went wild. That made it a little more enjoyable. Watching those episodes again years later, you realize, "wow, it wasn't anywhere near as good as I remembered it."

When I watched the Yoda fight in EP2, I just thought, "Christopher Lee is just doing a little circular dance while swinging a lightsaber about", he doesn't look like he's reacting to anything.

I will. JJ is the right guy for the job. His two Trek movies had a Star Wars pacing. He just needs to leave behind the lens flare and the unneeded homages to the old stuff.

The difference this time is he's not the guy holding the purse strings. Meaning that there are people above him that can and will call out his stupid ideas. Plus he's not writing it either.

Yes. Unlike all the Nancies in here, I am not so convinced that it will suck and that the sky is falling blah blah blah. Abrams is a good director. If its well-written and external forces keen on screwing it up are kept at bay (Lucas), it should turn out good.

I pretty much grew up on 4-6 and was there opening mornings for the special editions and there at midnight for 1-3.

I've been beaten down, battered and left for dead when it comes to my love affair with Star Wars. But I keep coming back for more. I have a 13yr old son and I'm guessing he will want to see them as well. I can't break the tradition at this point.
