could but don't want to.

on-call 24/7? responsible for any mistakes made by the people working under you?

no thanks.

though it would be nice to have the power to fire half of the department ;)

No way!

I'd have to order myself around then b!tch to myself about how I needed a rise and a few days off and that I was too busy to do the things I'd just asked myself to do.
Then when I start to explain to myself why I couldnt have those things I think I'd start to get confused!

Without a doubt, it would take me maybe a day to get things in order and learn all the things I'm responsible for.

I've only been in this department since April first. (Though with this company for 9 years, and in IT for 4 years.) I could probably do the work of my Team Lead, though it would be my first management position, and I'd need someone to go over the ground rules first. I think I could do it, but not as good as my boss does. It would take me a few months of adjusting before I was truly any good at it.

My boss uses what I call the "google management style." Meaning any input he provides comes from google. Yes, I think I can do a google search.

Considering that he is the owner of the best profit producing regional franchise developers in the nation....I don't think I could fill his shoes....probably not even fill a big toes worth.

Well, my boss quit, and I followed suit. Both of us found much better jobs, so I guess yeah, I can say I did the same thing. :)
