They are even taking over the grocery store part. In 15 years there won't be very many retail-grocery stores around execpt Walmart. When a company gets that big there is no stopping them. They can use the cash and power from all the other stores to corner the market in new areas. In 15 years we will all be ruled by Walmart, Microsoft and At@T.

heh, better them than sprint. If it were sprint they'd still be doing customer service layoffs in 15 years, claiming the 100 that would be left (serving 500 million people) were "hindering their profit goals".

and yes, walmart is evil. I used to like them very much but now im all cynical. When Im in walmart I feel like Im just a sheep out to pasture. Too many white trash people who hog aisles. On the upside, it gives me my monthly exercise because I have to walk 6 miles to find everything I need.

Ugh... I despise Wal-Mart with a passion. The only possible effect I can see it having in Kent is drawing the hicks out of hiding and lowering my property values. :frown:

Very much so!!!

And do you think this is news?!?

<< The aloof and pampered executives who run today?s autocratic and secretive corporate states have effectively become our sovereigns. From who gets health care to who pays taxes, from what?s on the news to what?s in our food, they have usurped the people?s democratic authority and now make these broad social decisions in private, based solely on the interests of their corporations. >>

HAH!!!!:D

Considering that the goal of Wal-Mart was to sell a very high percentage of American products and to produce thousands and thousands of jobs (outside of the $5.00/hr no benefit POS jobs they offer in the stores)...I'd say it's a pretty safe to say they don't give a damn about America or it's consumers.

I don't think walmart is evil(or at least not any more evil then any other big company), I might be the only one, but hell it sells products that people buy. Being one of the biggest companies is a biproduct of people buying their products, you can complain that any business is evil, and maybe all are.

They make products that appeal to the common consumer at affordable prices. They don't pay their employees that much, but they pay minimal wage and that is all that is needed by law.

Every big company has went through this, they are evil, and to a point you have to be a little evil. Proctor and Gambel was another company that was said to be evil(maybe for other reasons but evil never the less).

I don't think you can be a nice business person and make money, and when it comes down to it that is what they are trying to do. And the hillbilly sh!t is a moot arguement, since they are the biggest chain, and a lot more then hillbillies buy from them.

People have a choice as to how successful they want to be in life. Most people I see that work at Wal-Mart look like they fit there. You don't see doctors or college grads losing jobs because Wal-Mart moved into the area.
