Do you think this room is big enough for a pool table?

the carpet represents the footprint for a 4x8 table. the back wall will be 4 feet from the table and the side walls will be ~ 4.5 feet from the table. the table slightly sticks out into the open area for about 4"-5".

I don't need a formal dinning room, and I would love to convert it into a pool room However, I just don't know if I will have enough room...everywhere I've read online suggests at least 5 feet on each side of the table. Also, because this table will stick out into the open area a little bit, I'm concerned how it will look to my guest as they enter the front doors.

what do you think? too big? step down to the 3.5'x7' table?

Images aren't loading for me, but so long as the distance between the tables and the wall is long enough for a pool cue, you're fine.

The only issue I see is where those parts of the wall stick in...they could cause some problems with shots but otherwise looks good.

Have you tried rotating the table and moving it back farther?

I have considered rotating it, but the room just isn't large enough for that. it's only 11'x13'. 13' side is parallel with the 4' side of the table, that's how I came up with the 4.5' on each sides. 11' is parallel with the long side of the table so 4' out plus 8' long = slightly sticking out into the open area.

at 90 degrees, the side walls become too close.

at 45 degrees, the long side corner walls become too crowded.

the current orientation is the best due to the nice open area(which is also where we will break from), but that is also where I'm concerned that it may become an eye sore.

Ideally, you want 5 feet from rail to wall. A cue is typically 58 inches long, and you want a little room for backswing.

i think thats enough room. you might have a little difficulty with some shots but its still worth it.

in my old house we had a "short" pool stick on hand, because there were like 2 shots that were impossible with a regular sized one due to walls.

If it's only 11x13. Sorry. Too small.

There is nothing worse than playing on a table where you can't make a decent stroke.

im reminded of that seinfeld episode where george's dad renovates george's old room into a billiard room and the table takes up just about the entire size of the room. they're poking holes in the walls and breaking windows trying to attempt shots.
