Still not applicable for me... I believe in an afterlife that all sentient beings go to when they die. But it's not heaven. And god, if there is one, only serves as a facilitator in that place.Originally posted by: iamtrout

i don't mean this as offensive, just an observation. why is it that most gay people i know don't believe in God? is it because they don't feel accepted?Originally posted by: hjo3

you just said a mouthful. pun intended. 😛Originally posted by: letdown427
maybe gay men are overly logic bound, without realising it? Logic defies a belief in god, and logically, they feel they should love other men, as men are better 😉 😛 lol

Depends. In some Christian religions you can't get in without being baptized.Originally posted by: chambersc
funny thing about christianity is that if you make a deathbed confession and accept jesus christ as your lord and savoir, you go to heaven. !!!

isn't that the point of some of those terrorists? they kill so they can go to heaven and be with 77 virgins or something like that?
i donn't believe in god, the devil, heaven or hell anyway so it doesn't bother me

And, no offense to you either, but I think most intelligent people come to the same conclusion when presented with the evidence: there's no concrete proof one way or another regarding god's existence.
But, personally, my beliefs in that area aren't affected by my sexuality, so I might not be the right one to ask.
Your suggestion is probably accurate for a lot of people though -- the bible/torah condemns homosexuality, so a lot of gays reject judeo-christian religions. And most people associate the concept of god closely with religion overall, so voila, lots of atheist gays.
If you're agnostic, why associate morality with divine judgement?Originally posted by: iamtrout
I'm agnostic too. I was just wondering if it's ok to kill people. Lots of people.Originally posted by: hjo3

I just meant that most rational, objective, scientific-minded people come to that conclusion when presented with a situation where you have no measureable proof on either side.Originally posted by: moshquerade

Now, if I had some kind of uniquely personal religious experience, I'd probably change my mind. I'm not saying everyone who follows a religion is dumb.
QuoFT. It's called the spirit and supernatural, some people believe in it, others don't. I think there has been evidence that one exists. People who will only accept a realm that abides by our "science" is looking through tunnel vision IMO.Originally posted by: Drakkon

I know plenty of perfectly rational, objectic, scientific minded professors from across the country, some that have gone to harvard and yale, that are studying microbiology, physics, chemistry, amoung other things and MANY of which beleive in some form of religion and heaven/hell. Biology can have a reason for life and death yet a person can still beleive in a soul, its not that hard to believe in a soul and that a person has a presence that exists beyond a physical plane. many of them are buddhists so maybe that explains it ? I dont know, but to listen to you spout off drivel about how "when presented with evidence" a person cannot still beleive in something is complete and utter BS.
