Just the fact that it's so big,it would be kinda stupid to think we are alone.

How they look would be dictated on how their home planet is.

Gravity , enviroment they would all play as big role in how they look.

Some scientist just reported discovering bacteria in 3.9 billion year old rock which pushes back the date to the porbability that life formed on earth immediately even during cometary bombardment. If so than live, bacterial life, may be a given and universal. The news mentioned that stars have a limited time frame in which they can support life and the probability of intelligent life is not certain.

As in 'Contact': "If we where the only one it would be an aweful waste of space". And I don't think it could be put more accurate. Even with simple statistics it would seem unlikely that we are alone. And for the record and don't hope for us being alone...

The odds are way against humans being the only life form in the universe, there has to other life forms out there somewhere.

i know a lot of people running SETI@home...
i think that even if there are alien life form, we might never get to be in contact with them... because information only travels at the speed of light and the universe is so big.

Of course there's life out there. Only a fool would believe otherwise. Will we communicate with intelligent beings in my lifetime? I highly doubt it. But by then we may find evidence in our solar system to indicate past life. Exciting stuff either way.

In my mind the odds are that there are many other life forms... They already proved that there was some water on Mars before and water means oxygen and that means life (if you think in earth senses). Also if you use your imagination a bit, there must be some life forms that eat/breath other things then oxygen.

I don't think any of them ever came to earth though. If Einstein is right, nothing can go faster than the speed of light without becoming energy(or light). Other Galaxies are Soooooo far away.......

Well, if you've read Slashdot.org within the past 2 days, there's always the Space Fungus that inhabits space station Mir. But I guess that doesn't count as ET life, does it?

Yes they did. Aliens arrived and created the pyramids of egypt in their own, ahem, image. (their heads were big and pointy you see.) ;)

"If there isn't another form of life, that would be a whole lot of wasted space...."-I dunno who said this. :(

I think there is, but they are probably a few hundred/thousand/million light years away so we will never encounter them.

Both are equally terrifying."

Of course. To think that we are the only ones is absolutely obsurd.

I believe they visit us all the time. Do you really think all those sightings, all those pictures, all that crap the government is hiding, is false? Yeah, right. Do you think all the hundreds of thousands of crop circles that have appeared over the last decade+ are all hoaxes? I don't even think so!

The odds of a life form out there are slim, acording to Scientific America. The chance that a super life form (called civilsation level 3) are almost 0. civilsation level two is just less than 50-50, and level 1 (we are on the top of level 1, if i rememeber right) is pretty good but we will never know about it untill we become a high level 2 or level 3.
Basicly they will find us befor we find them.

Not only distance, but time should be a consideration, too. Life on this planet has been around for a *very* small amount of time, when you compare it to the age of the universe... :)

distance = time

time = distance

The faster you go the slower time goes... Distance or time doesn't become a factor if you can cover immense territory in an extreemly short period of time...
