It's not a trend. It's always been like that. The only difference is that from time to time they get more media coverage.

In my opinion many of the shortcuts developed over the past 40 years in the name of "justice" like RICO, enhanced asset forfeiture, parts of the Patriot Act, 3 strikes etc are just as big a threat. It is all cut from the same cloth of media sensationalism creating a false sense of panic in the general public who are then willing to tolerate increased infringements on their Liberty.

Rape, child porn, pedphiles etc charges have changed from innocent until proven guilty to guilty. no matter what. even if you have more then enough proof to prove you did not do it.

look at the case a year ago where a 2 yr old said the guy next door "hurt her on starry nights" or something like that to her mother. the mother then called the father who broke into the house and killed the man.

Many here were saying good. he deserved to die. This is on the word of a 2 yr old! EVEN after the reports came out that doctors said the child was not harmed in any way people were still convinced that the guy deserved to die.

some can't get past the natrue of the crime to look at facts.

FTR-I never said that. I was one of the few who said the father overreacted and deserves to rot in prison.

I voted yes and no in the poll...although, I do love those 'Dateline To Catch a Predator' shows.

I don't understand how anyone can vote yes to the second question. That would be changing the basic constitutional rights of our citizens.

Chris Hansen is a douche bag. This guy tricks pervs into showing up to the house and has them arrested. OK FINE but the problem I have with what Chris does is he makes a spectacle of whole situation and mocks these guys. Oh no he can't just have them arrested he has to BOOST his ratings. You god d@mn well better believe if he was not getting ratings from this he drop this like a rock and try to sniff Brittney Spears ass for rateings. All Chris is doing is trying to make money on these poor smucks that showed at the house. Once the rateings are gone so will Chris and not lift a finger to help ?catch a predator?. IMHO the whole thing is pretty close to entrapment in the first place. These guys show up but no sex crime has happen. They claim that ?intent of crime? is what these guys are guilty of which they make it seem these guys are guilty before he is even in a court of law.

And lets not forget about Louis Conradt Jr. who ended up killing himself over the BS that Chris was evolved with. Conradt was talking to a decoy and then stop. They sent a swat team to his house and there was good old Chris to film the whole thing. Dateline even showed up early to make sure they got all on film can't let this rateing booster be missed. All Louis Conradt Jr did was stop talking to the decoy and it was time to nail this guy. F@ck Chris Hanson
