i just received an email that told me i was pre-approved, and my lines were clear for dsl-alizing (or whatever the they do to it). the free service gives you speeds up to 144kbps. after helping my friend configure his dsl, his manual reminded me that the b stood for bits, not bytes. since 1 byte is in 8 bits, 144 divided by 8 results in a measely 18 REAL kb per sec. and since i'm on a 56k, at least it beats the crap out of my winmodem. do you think it's worth it, and remind you, there are banners. these are all the other choices:
free dsl = no monthly $, 200 dollar modem, banner
dsl plus = 10 dollars, 200 modem, no banners, 144k
dsl power= 20 dollars, free modem, no banners, 384
premium= dollars, free modem, no banners, 1.5m
how does this sound?
