Do you think that Florida is a good place to become a real estate agent?

Hey, i'm thinking about the possibility of becoming a real estate agent in Florida. I would first have to get my license... but do you think that it's a steadily growing market? Are there too many real estate agents already? or do you think that now is a good time to start the career change?

i'd be able to live at my dad's house in pompano beach for free while i get my real estate license. i have a decent amount saved up right now to feel comfortable for a year or so...

Thanks

How much time will it take, and how much money will it cost to get your license? If you can risk the time and money, then why not try it? Obviously you have to be unhappy with things if you are moving from Cali to Florida. What is there to lose?

PLEASE!! Not another Realtor in south Florida! The only things we have more of down here are cockroaches and illegal aliens.

Yeah, seriously. Real estate is the new IT. There are already way too many of them.

Yes, but not as steadily growing as the number of real estate agents.

Oh yes.

Now is as good a time as any, but not into this line of business.

Honestly, everyone and their mother is a realtor down here. Being a successful realtor is a different thing. If you think you can do it and want to try, go ahead.

I can't speak for South Florida because I haven't lived down there in a while. But here in West Florida up in the Panhandle, the market sucks for agents. I bought my house from a "by owner" and the majority of the houses going on the market in my area are being sold by owner, with the average one only on the market for a week or 2.

Again, it may be different back in SF, but here someone would be stupid to use an agent to sell there house. They are getting what they ask with no fee's.
