....and is it a good idea or would you hate it. Personally I think it's in their plans. I dont have proof ist just something companies do. Would you like for them to do it? Would it turn you away? Of course the most important choice if they did would be the name. AT or Heathens er Toms.

Social media and Techtubers have (for better or worse) proven to be better able to interact with their audience while being more agile in their coverage.

What would be the point? Looks like Tom's is much more active, both the content site and the forums. "Merging" them would consist of shutting down anandtech, maybe pointing the domain name at the other site, and giving everyone a login for the other forums. I expect anandtech will be shut down before too long, anyway, when the ad revenue no longer pays for the cost of operating it.

No, it was a response to exactly the question you asked. The bottom line is that there is nothing to be gained, so it won't happen. The only thing that could be merged would be the forum memberships, which would mean moving everyone to one or the other forum, and it wouldn't be this one.

What would you envision as a "merger" of the two sites? A site with some new name and domain? That would completely defeat Purch's business strategy of buying dying sites that still have some name recognition.

Horrible idea to merge the two sites. There's a good chance they have their own Mayne, and two Maynes in the same place would destroy the space-time continuum.

Although, if they also have a TridenT or Alky, it could balance out...
