Do you think of yourself as an adult?

Ryan

Lifer
Today, one of my coworkers was asking me for some advice on life in general, and I started wondering "why a guy in his late thirties would be asking me, A KID, for advice." 😕

Although I'm 20, I find it odd that I don't think of myself as an adult. I still think of myself as equal to someone in high school, just, with bills and everything 😛

Me? An adult? haha 😛

I'm 21. I am still in school and live with my parents, so I don't consider myself a full adult. I do consider myself as mature as an adult though.

Kind of... I think that viewpoint will be finalized when i graduate, but I'm 23 and I have bills to pay, and a job at which I'm respected. I've covered most of the "adult" things except for having kids.

its just good policy to seek advice from those of all ages. in general, younger people dont have the experience older folks do, and older folks sometime realize their cynical rat-race can cloud their judgement and views.

that, and he thinks youre mature and level headed, what ever the hell that means.😛

I am starting to. I'm 26 and graduated from professional school so I guess I am but I don't feel like one.

Considering that I live on my own, work full-time, and pay all my bills by myself (without parents), I consider myself an adult.

me too - but still 😛

Well, no, I don't *feel* like an adult--but I've always been the kind of person people would tell their life stories to, talk about their problems with, and ask for advice even as a teenager. There's no age limit on that sort of thing--and, most of the time, people already know what they want to do, they just need to hear it. Having a lot of relevant experience isn't the most important part, most people just need a good listener from time to time.

i am 25 and i consider myself an adult. i have been independent from my parents since i was 18. 7 years in the "real" world is enough time to mature. especially if you are forced to "grow up" courtesy of the military...

I'm 27, about to close on my first house, have two kids, and I think I'm getting there. Maybe when I hit the big three-O.
Then again, maybe I just have a Peter Pan complex (of course I usually dance around in blue tights, not green 😛)

I always think it's weird when I think about it. But if I were ambiguously mentioned in a newspaper... it would say " a 26 year old man, blah blah blah". So based upon that I consider myself an adult. But I'll always be a kid on the inside.

I'm 37 and I still look around wondering who someone is talking to when they call me "sir" or "Mr Amused."

<^>😛

Actually, people are consistently amazed when they find out how old I am. Most guess 25-30.
