Do you think my MSI 560GTX-Ti is fried?

Okay guys, here's the story of my video card.

It's a MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC for what it's worth.

Well I bought the card about a year ago, back then I was a newbie, and hadn't built my first computer yet. I didn't really know what I was doing. So I immediately ripped the warranty sticker off the back of the video card, to let the card breath you know? *sigh*

Then I installed the card into my case, but being the "professional" that I was, I accidentally didn't remove the second PCI back panel, so the Video cards vents were covered. This caused my card to run at load 80-100 degrees Fahrenheit for about 8 months.

When I built my first computer 3 months ago and re-used the video card, I realized I needed to remove two panels, which brought the temperatures down to normal.

Then in my infinite wisdom, I decided to learn how to overclock my already heat-worn out video card. I cranked the voltages up as high as they could go while trying to overclock (Because I read that somewhere on the web).

After I finished overclocking, it remained stable for a day before the driver started crashing constantly. I reverted back to factory, which made the driver stop crashing.

But now, about every month, my graphics card starts artifacting. If I look at slightly reduced in size (compressed?) pictures on my hard drive they become covered in colorful pixels and lines everywhere and then my video driver crashes. Youtube videos also start bugging out.

Then I have to re-seat my video card to fix the problem for about another month and then it happens again. I suppose it could be my new motherboard, but the card doesn't look like it's sagging, and the card has been through hell.

My video card is probably damaged right?

Physical damage is possible. Try underclocking it slightly (5% on core and memory) and see if that helps. Restore voltage to default.

Where on earth did you read that maxing voltage on a video card is a good idea?

I swear one of the many video card overclocking guides said crank the voltages up to max and then work your way down.

I immediately realized it was a bad idea when my card crashed instantly. Thanks for the advice, I'll try underclocking.

I would try it in a different computer, but I don't have another.

I'm currently using the 285.62 driver, but I tried every single driver available, and unfortunately none of them fixed the issue.

I like the humorous portrayal of your overclocking. I agree with the poster above, try reducing voltage a bit too, even below default along with the clocks.

When you see artifact that is the VRAM get too hot or OCed too high.

I think all that time you used the card with the back panel seal not taken out ... The card is dying,, slowly slowly you will see more artifacting until you cant see anything but lines or colors. 80 to 100c load is insane.. the poor video ram must have gotten hot one too many times. Can you RMA the card ? I dont know what MSI warranty is like... hmm gl

What?

I was making fun of my past self. I thought the big warranty sticker on the back of the card would somehow make the card run hotter, so I ripped it off.

Yeah, my poor card is probably dying. I talked to MSI about a warranty, but they said because I removed the sticker on the back of the card, that I could go fuck myself. (I'm paraphrasing).
