Do you think LCD prices will drop by this summer?

I am thinking of building a new computer this summer as this one is getting quite old (P3 450, 384MB PC100, TNT2 Ultra, I guess I don't need to go on :)) and want to get a LCD screen preferrably an 17 to 18 inch one... do you think the price for those will drop to about $500? :Q

Dektop space is something I don't have too much of which is why I am steering away from 19 inch CRTs. LCD users, please rant or rave about your screen!

I've been looking for a new monitor myself, and therefor have been reading a lot of reviews on the pros and cons of the different monitors too.
My desk space is limited too, but instead of getting an LCD monitor I've decided to clear it up a bit to make room for a 22" CRT monitor.
The reason: I play a lot of FPSs, and LCD monitors (especially the bigger ones) are just not able to get a decent framerate. It sux when the framerate is at 30-40.

LCD prices will rise slowly until Q4, that's if the new LCD glass manufacturer's get online and ramped up in time.

Arrggg... I need the prices to go down!! I read a lot of text on the monitor... for ~$700 (about the price of a 17 inch LCD correct?) what kind of CRT am I able to get?

Also, when will the new "faster response times" LCD technology (sorry forgot the name of it) be introduced?

You can get a 22" CRT monitor for around $500 already on pricewatch.
The new technology stuff for LCDs is expected this fall.

Wait till a few months after Fall, it'll probably be quitea noticable difference.
