Well, first off it is the ugliest laptop I have ever seen. Secondly it come with a 80gb 4200rpm hd. Third it has both ram slots full already because it has 2 sticks of 256. Fourth, its reall really red, which makes it really ugly in my book. I also hear the ram can be a pain to get to. And who wants a 4200 rpm hd?

I like how it has the true mobile AMD 64 processor in it, but 4200 RPM HDD?! Ewwww!!!!

I was so ready to preorder this from pctorque...and I was like 5400...I can live with that...and upgrade if necessary. Then I saw how it it has a 4200 RPM HDD...basically I crossed it off my list at that point because I would need a HDD upgrade + buying more RAM + 2000 bucks for the notebook = about $2440!

At powernotebooks.com I am getting everything I want for 2020 or so!

Depending on what 80GB HDD it is
The Hitachi 80GB 4200 rpm is hardly something to complain about
it is an extremely fast HD.
I swapped it out in my t40 for the 7200rpm and I have since gone back to the 4200
and I cannot tell it. Except for my 1hour gain back in battery life.

Eriq - An hour gain in battery life via swapping 7200 vs 4200 drives? I find that extraordinarily hard to believe. I've gone from every drive under the sun and the difference in battery life is negligible. Then again, if your 7200 drive was some uber battery draining one...I suppose...

Well you can believe it or not That's how it is on my T40.
And i know it had to be the HD because that's all that was changed.

heh eriqesque, you are on the thinkpad forum too, just came from a thread where you posted..

shellguy - I wouldn't touch that ferrari. I came very, very, close to ordering it when the F3000 surfaced originally - actually I was ready to order, but then the estimated date of delivery was set back a whole month, and I decided to wait a bit. And boy I'm glad I did - because after that, tests and reviews started showing up - I was originally counting on at least 3 hours of battery life, but one test (dinside.no) showed a batterylife of only 1.5 hours! That's way too little. Also the majority of F3000 owners have reported, that it gets VERY hot. Coupled with the 4200rpm hd (slow! my parents have one in their fujitsu), it doesn't make for a very competitive deal.
