Do you think it's unreasonable for a jewish dad to prevent his kids/anyone in his family to purchased german made automobiles? Like If I wanted a porsche, IIRC he said that if I bought one he'd disconnect me financially entirely. He would do everything in his power to prevent me from getting one. (I'll express my opinion on this once the flamers come and go)

Now I'll go ahead and express my opinion.
How it started:
When I first wanted a porsche (Dream car like fantasy), I was told I couldn't have one no matter what, even if I was independent etc.. and I was really frustrated. I also wanted a BMW as well, but again he'd never let me get a german car because of the holocaust (his father was a holocaust victim). Agian, it's not just the fact that he wouldn't buy it, but if I were to buy it, I wouldn't be surprised if he disowned me.

My opinion on the matter is that I understand his concern and why he'd never let me get a german car. It makes sense though, the people of that era (WWII) both the germans and the jews both hated each other, even after WWII. A generation goes by and then you have this generation, the generation that has parents that were in WWII and are influenced by that, while the hate isn't nearly as strong as in the former due to it no being "officially in exisitence today" it's still bad. So then finally, you have the third generation, which would include me, ones who are getting an indirect view of the 'conlfict'; this is just like telephone. As time goes on, unless there is something to 'reinvigorate the fire', it's just going to die down and eventually go 'POOF'.

While there will be some people out there who will still brew the hate generations later, it will probably be because of things like videos that bring back all that hatred again and other such measures etc.

To me, I'm a bit indifferent but still feel frustrated over the whole ordeal. While I may not get a german car in my life, if my kid were to get one, I wouldn't care too much, especially if it was used. Only car I wouldn't let them get is a VW, cause they suck :p Yes I know, porsche and VW are the same but what ever..

So there you go.

Have you ever considered paying for therapy rather than annoying ATOT with this constant drivel? Maybe Mom and Dad can pay for it by disconnecting one of those broadband connections.

I think it's ridiculous. It's like many Korean people I know who won't buy Japanese cars or like Black people still angry about slavery.

Yes, it is very unreasonable. Germany has bent over backwards both financially and socially to make amends for the Holocaust. I mean, they have really gone above and beyond. No reasonable, thinking Jew would discriminate against Germany today for the actions of the Nazis.

I think he's saying the OPs dad is an idiot which explains why the OP himself is such an idiot.

What if you bought a VW built in Mexico? That's not really "German-made," now is it?
And maybe it's unreasonable, but you can really stick it to him by becoming financially independent and buying one.

It's unreasonable and kind of silly, but he's certainly entitled to do that.
If you find it objectionable, do what you want and suffer the consequences.

QFT.

But who cares, don't buy such an expensive car anyways. And also, if your dad is still paying for your expenses, guess what... you have no say in the matter. In which case, if your dad is even considering paying for your car (and it is that expensive), I have to question whether you aren't like RyanSengara.

When I came back home, I found out my dad was driving a beat up old '90 Camry with 300k+ miles on it. I decided to switch cars with him, and gave him my newer car. He is too old to be driving an old car. What is silly though, is my mom ended up buying me a nice '98 Camry like 4 months later. I didn't even know. Silly parents. ;)

How about you try doing something for your parents on the other hand. Chances are, karma will happen and you will be better off for it.
