Do you think it's a good idea to write a "death letter"?

Just a letter to your kids/wife/SO in case something unexpected happened. Do you (or should you) have a "dear daughter" (or wife/SO, etc...) after death letter?

opinions?

Sure, if you want to lay some kind of funky mind fsck on them.

Dear Daughter,

The family dog is also your half-brother. The family cat is the mother. I'm sorry.

Fixed.

I know it's easy to make fun of (and I would too) :) )... but....
I guess what I mean is; if I die in a car wreck tomorrow, there may be things I haven't talked to my daughter about yet (because her age).

Is it a good idea to leave her a document to read after my death? or would that just make matters worse?

That's good to hear... My daughter lives primarily with my first wife, but there is so much she doesn't know (or understand) and if I died tomorrow, she'd never know. I'd at least like her to read my side of the story if for some reason I passed away before having a chance to talk to her......

I wouldn't. People already know how I feel and I don't want them clinging to some piece of paper.

You have to entrust someone with the task of deleting all your porn. I wouldn't want my kids finding that, and I wouldn't put it in my will!

It would be more fun to leave a letter for someone you hate.

Dear #$@#@!,

God says you're going to hell.

Love,
Bob

That's a great idea. My daughter is part of a divorced relationship so I can only keep it simple when we talk. If I were to die, I'd like her to know much more detail. i tell her I love her every time we speak......
