Do you think internship programs are ripoff?

I have a friend that's going through an internship program to be a radiologist (x-ray tech or something of the sort). The internship will last about 2 years, and she has to PAY them!!?!?!?! I think internship nowaday is a way for corporations to get free labors, almost like the schools that made money off kids through "work study" programs.

yikes, paying them for it! I got paid well to be an engineering intern. I do know of some people who had to pay their school for the internship, for a few credit hours, usually over the summer.. they also made no money from their internships. Usually in the liberal arts field (especially political science). But not paying a company!

I'll have to pay tuition to student teach. I'm envious of people who have paid internships.

Internships are awesome. Not only have I been able to build up a resume, I was able to make enough to only have $11,000 in loans. I'm a 4th year now and haven't had to take another loan since the end of my second year. Plus I have enough for housing and food with left over for books and other things. I've already started paying off the loans I have while still in school.

Well, she's not paying the hospital where she's finishing her internship, she's paying the school. 😕
