Do you think immigrating to the US is still as beneficial as it was in earlier days?

I know for some countries it is still beneficial (ie mexico) but how bout other countries? Is it that much better to try to start a life in a foriegn country then it is in your own native country? Is migrating to the US still as beneficial as it was in the 1800's and early 1900's?

Did your parents immigrate here for you?

Is the American Dream of having an education, moving to a suburban house, driving an SUV for everyone?

Yes. Because despite all the problems, the US is still one of the most upwardly mobile places in the world.

I would have to say that just like in the 1800's it depends on what/where you are leaving.
