So why so many?
Are you a tinkerer ?

Also, all the components that these remotes belong to... are they all plugged in.
If so, we need more pics of your set-up. Holy cow bro!

This deserves a WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT all in 1 post.

There needs to be a voice-command programmable remote.

Acutally, this is the best recommendation for the money, an the MX-500 is an installers' choice. Easy to program and use, and doesn't cost a lot.

Don't know for sure, but I'm sure it can be taught.

Well, I definitely don't have that many. Let's see...

2x Sony SL-HF750 SuperBeta HiFi remotes
1x Apex PF2020 remote
1x JVC HR-XVC30U remote
1x Zenith universal remote (used with an old GE TV with a lost OE remote)
1x Ancient RCA VHS VCR remote
2x Not-quite-so-ancient RCA VHS VCR remotes
1x Toshiba VHS VCR remote

The last four remotes are still hanging around despite the fact that their players have been thrown away after breaking.

I can't compete with the original poster, but I'm on my way.

My Kenwood receiver came with a great learning remote, and it controls everything in both my living room and bedroom including ReplayTVs, a Yamaha receiver, Sharp VCR, two different DVD players and TVs, etc. (I did have to get creative with the button mapping in some cases, but it learned everything I needed it to). Plus it has RF capability.

I would have purchased the HTM MX500 if I wasn't satisfied with what I have. That looks like an excellent remote.

The MX500 is good. So is the Harmony, don't remember the model on that one.
The best bang for the buck, IMO, is the Radio Shack 15-2117. ~$30, universal, great ergonomics and feel, and has a JP1 connector.

The JP1 is probably the best feature you could ask for on a remote. It's wonderful. :)

Now the frightening thing is that I know what most of those remotes are for.

Anyway for about 130 bucks, I suggest the Harmony sst-659

Yes you're right. My wife and I gathered up every remote we could find in the house/cars (even ones we don't use anymore) just to see how many we had. I told her it was less than 30. She said more. Well I think there was 29 in the pic. So I win!!! :)

But then she found two more later.

Oh well.

In our main living room we only need 3 of them. One for the Onkyo receiver, one for the Samsung DLP, one for the Sony DVD.

One is for a 31" Mitsubishi tube TV and the other is for a stand alone Mitsubishi "home theatre" amplifier. It does Dolby Pro Logic exclusively (besides stereo) I used to use it before I had a prologic receiver. (of course now I have replaced that one too with a 6.1 surround receiver) The one with the jog dial is for a Mitsubishi VCR.

That MX 500 universal remote someone posted about sure looks like it might work. Is it better than the 150 or so dollar Sony one I've seen people with?
