I egayed my playstation 2 for money and it turned out that something happened in the mail and from teh shock it seems the lens was knocked out of place and it wont read any games. USPS wont cover it even though it was insured cause there was no physical damage to the box.

Do you think i could possible fix this if i opened up the playstation 2? or should i just send it to sony to get it fixed??

Comments are appreciated.

depends on how proficent you are with things like that, do you know for certain what is wrong with it? maybe you could find a tutorial online? but if you open it up doesn't it void the warranty? think about that aspect too!

Send it in!

If the lens wa knocked out of alignment you will never get it fixed without the proper tools!

Look at it this way....

A. you open it and mess around with it. Still not fixed, but now the warrenty is void. You pay Sony to fix the unit a premium or buy a new unit....

B. just send the thing to Sony and they fix it, hopefully it's under warrenty 🙂

A guy I know had a PS1 and the laser got knocked around so now it only works when it is upside down, lol. I guess if worse comes to worse you could try that.

I Guess its worth trying (the upside down thing) my playstation used to be like that...except i would have to turn it on its side for it to work.

I will call and tell them it just started doing this and see if its covered under warranty. Hopefully it is, otherwise i dont have much to lose by opening it up.
