some elites really stand out as contributing to the forum, some elites lost whatever it was that made them elite long ago and no longer are worthy of the title. maybe they still moderate so you can't tell, who knows. IIRC the only elite to lose the title was dennilfloss.

A lot of people gained their status through being helpful at other forums. They might appear to be just Nefs here in OT, but in forums like GH and DC, they actually are helpful.
