Do you think a Barton B core is a possibility?

AMD is going to have to release barton's that run at a higher fsb speed and run stable at a higher clock. Do you think AMD might make a revised barton core like they did with the t bred? If not that I'm sure the steppings of the barton will begin to improve as AMD releases the 400 fsb.

Wasn't the Barton just meant to hold us over until the 64-bit chips came around? They are right around the corner...So I don't know how much more AMD will do with the XP's.

I can see a 200 Mhz FSB Barton in the future... just because the 64 bit CPU's will be their top of the line family doesn't mean they'll stop doing everything with the Athlon XP family. It does mean that the Durons will be left our of their product line I bet.

the 200FSB Bartons are coming in May in the form of the Athlon XP 3200+
but i don't think there'll be a Barton B
maybe'll they'll do the same thing as the did with the Duron, which manufacture it on a smaller process(90 nm)

Actually I think AMD is going to bypass the 90 nm... I read somewhere (can't remember where, but I'll find it sometime today) that they're working on a 65 nm process.

I don't think a Barton B core is out of the question... they may make some very minor changes, and call the 200 Mhz FSB Barton a B core.

nah, i don't think so. or else the barton won't be able to scale higher till AMD perfects its 65nm process.
and AMD has published roadmaps showing the Hammer(both Opteron and Athlon 64) on the 90nm process.
so it's my guess that AMD will move the 90nm process to Barton

"Two Opertons on a single die at below 120 mm^2 will be possible on AMD's 65nm process, so whenever that transition occurs you can expect to hear a bit more from AMD on multicore Opteron solutions." - Taken from this article at the very bottom. Maybe they're only planning the 65 nm process for their 64 bit CPU's.

If history is a good indicator, and it usually is 😉 Then I'd say it's more of an inevitability than possibility. The Barton should be around for awhile yet and since there's always room for improvement it only stands to reason that a "B" flavor is forthcoming.
